Our story
Paved by Riders,Powered by Locals.
VeloPaths exists because the best part of any ride is the stop you didn't plan — and generic maps were never going to find it for you.
The mission
Connect every cyclist with the local businesses that make a route worth riding — and make sure those businesses thrive because of it.
How VeloPaths works
Serious maps underneath. Human curation on top.
Google Maps SDK at the core
VeloPaths is built on the Google Maps SDK — the same routing, tiles, and reliability you already trust — so navigation simply works, everywhere.
Custom curated pins on top
Instead of the default firehose of points of interest, we render our own pins: only VeloPaths-approved businesses, grouped by six rider-first categories.
Humans do the vetting
Every stop is reviewed by people who actually ride the route — often our rental-shop partners — before it ever appears on the map.
Why we're different
A map app finds places. VeloPaths finds your ride.
Generic map apps
- Every POI ever scraped, all at once
- Businesses buried under ad noise
- No concept of a bike-friendly detour
- Stale hours, dead listings, mystery pins
VeloPaths
- Approved local stops only — six categories
- Businesses featured intentionally, by subscription
- Detours designed for bikes, measured in minutes
- Maintained with rental-shop partners on the ground
The long-term vision
From one trail town to hundreds.
Every rental shop that joins VeloPaths brings its town with it — its paths, its businesses, its character. The platform scales the way cycling communities actually form: one local network at a time, stitched into a map that spans regions.
01 → ∞
One platform. Unlimited towns, routes, and rental-shop partners.
The VeloPaths manifesto
What we ride by.
01
Curated, never cluttered
We don't mirror every pin on the internet. VeloPaths shows only approved local stops — the ones actually worth a detour.
02
Local first, always
Every brewery, café, and scoop shop on the map is a real neighborhood business, vetted by people who ride the route.
03
Built for the saddle
Glanceable cards, one-thumb controls, and routes that respect your momentum. The app works at fifteen miles per hour.
04
A platform that grows
Each rental shop that joins brings its town, its trails, and its flavor — a network that scales community by community.
